A Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) jawan named Ramakant Vishwakarma has been arrested for allegedly molesting a 10-year-old girl in Kulti, West Burdwan district. The incident occurred when the girl was offered mangoes near the CISF camp, leading to the jawan luring her to his quarters and committing the act. The girl reported the incident to her family, who then filed a complaint with the police.
The accused jawan fled the scene, prompting tension in the area with local residents protesting the incident. The police swiftly took action, leading to the arrest of Ramakant Vishwakarma. Trinamool leader Chandan Acharya praised the police for the quick arrest, and the accused will be presented before the Asansol court for further legal proceedings.
An investigation is ongoing under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012, as confirmed by a senior officer from the West Burdwan district police. The Trinamool leadership condemned the incident, highlighting the unfortunate behavior of a central force member during the West Bengal Assembly elections.
