He noted the similarities in the immense scale and diversity of the societies served by the Supreme Courts of India and Russia, despite evolving from different legal traditions.
CJI Surya Kant underscored the importance of responsibly integrating technology into judicial systems while ensuring the continued trust of the public in the administration of justice. He emphasized the need to combine technological advancements with enduring human values to shape the future of justice, stating that technology should enhance access to justice without compromising judicial principles.
India’s experience in digital court transformations, including e-filing, virtual hearings, and AI-enabled tools, has been guided by the principle of strengthening access to justice without undermining judicial values. The CJI stressed the significance of investing in people through continuous education, training, and professional development to enhance the effectiveness of judicial institutions.
Furthermore, CJI Surya Kant highlighted the potential for enhanced collaboration between India and Russia in the judicial sector through initiatives such as institutional exchanges, joint training programs, and research partnerships. He expressed confidence that sustained dialogue and cooperation between the Supreme Courts of both countries would bolster their respective judicial systems and improve the administration of justice.
