Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath recently conducted a review of the health and medical education departments, emphasizing the need to expedite health services for the public. He highlighted the importance of leveraging modern technology, enhancing human resources, and ensuring effective management in medical colleges and super-speciality services. Adityanath stressed the significance of quality healthcare workers and specialists over merely increasing the number of medical institutions.
During the review, it was revealed that Uttar Pradesh currently operates numerous healthcare facilities, including district hospitals, specialised hospitals, Community Health Centres, Primary Health Centres, and health sub-centres. The state’s government hospitals delivered a substantial number of outpatient and inpatient services, along with a significant volume of pathology tests in the year 2025-26. Notably, there has been a considerable increase in the number of PG, MBBS, and super-speciality seats over the past decade.
Adityanath commended the Ayushman Yojana for its support to underprivileged families and emphasized the importance of prompt payments to hospitals for improved patient care. The scheme has benefitted a large number of individuals through free treatments provided by over 6000 hospitals in Uttar Pradesh. The Chief Minister also highlighted the necessity of promoting medical research and innovation within healthcare services.
Furthermore, Adityanath directed officials to expedite the completion of ongoing medical college and health institution projects to ensure timely public access to enhanced healthcare facilities. He stressed the importance of timely payments to ambulance operators and emphasized the need for hospitals to maintain fresh stocks of medicines with adequate expiry dates. Additionally, Adityanath called for a concerted effort to transform the TB eradication campaign into a mass movement involving educational institutions and voluntary organizations.
