Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal emphasized that India’s recent free trade agreements with developed economies offer significant prospects for startups and entrepreneurs. Speaking at the ‘Startup Pe Charcha’ event, he mentioned that these agreements bring stability and confidence to investors while creating access to new markets for Indian products and services.
Goyal urged startups to consider collaborations with foreign counterparts to attract investments and expand globally. He outlined opportunities in various sectors like services, mobility, payments, sustainability, renewable energy, and advanced technologies.
The minister observed a noticeable increase in self-assurance among India’s youth, noting a shift towards risk-taking, entrepreneurship, and innovation. He highlighted the changing mindset towards future-ready growth and innovation in the country.
Goyal interacted with founders and achievers during the event, discussing sectors with high growth potential. He identified tourism and skill development as promising areas, emphasizing the importance of technology integration and skill enhancement, especially in rural regions.
Highlighting the significance of deep-tech development, Goyal mentioned the government’s support through the Rs 10,000-crore Startup Fund of Funds. He stressed the importance of training and upskilling the workforce for emerging technologies like artificial intelligence and cyber security, aiming to prepare them for the future job market.
