Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal engaged with over 1,000 industry association representatives, encouraging them to leverage the expanding opportunities within India’s FTA network. He stressed the importance of early preparation, exploring new markets, enhancing Brand India, boosting quality and productivity, and enhancing global competitiveness.
Goyal, inspired by PM Narendra Modi’s vision, called on the industry to transform global challenges into opportunities through innovation, energy efficiency, improved logistics, R&D, and a collective national effort to strengthen the export ecosystem and achieve the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047. The minister also chaired the India-Chile Business Roundtable, focusing on the potential partnership between the two countries in critical minerals, food processing, healthcare, clean energy, technology transfer, and other emerging sectors.
During the roundtable, discussions centered on collaboration opportunities under the India-Chile CEPA to deepen bilateral ties and unlock growth prospects across various sectors for businesses and citizens. Goyal highlighted recent government achievements, including export promotion initiatives, progress in FTA negotiations, and dialogues with global companies to bolster manufacturing investments in India.
Goyal also mentioned significant milestones such as the export of Assam’s One District One Product (ODOP) honey to the US for the first time and the successful conclusion of the second round of negotiations for the proposed Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) between India and Canada. The government’s engagements with industry leaders from Airbus, L’Oréal Groupe, Carrier, and LVMH aimed at enhancing investments and manufacturing in India were also emphasized.
Furthermore, the government’s efforts included strategic meetings to assess the progress of India’s FTAs, export promotion strategies, and sanitary and phytosanitary (SPS) approvals to enhance global market access for Indian agricultural and fisheries products.
