Four Flying Squads from the Commission for Air Quality Management in NCR and Adjoining Areas identified unpaved or missing pathways along several road stretches in GNIDA and Noida Authority areas. The inspection highlighted the absence of paved central verges on certain road segments managed by the authorities. A special inspection drive was conducted to evaluate urban road redevelopment in Noida and Greater Noida, emphasizing adherence to the Commission’s Standard Framework.
The inspection covered approximately 46.87 kilometers of road stretches, revealing that while some roads had complete paving, others still required redevelopment completion. Notably, 11 road stretches under GNIDA and 6 under the Noida Authority were assessed, focusing on roads with varying Right of Way categories. The findings indicated the necessity for timely completion of redevelopment projects to meet the Standard Framework requirements.
The Commission emphasized the importance of end-to-end paving, provision of paved pathways, and development of central verges to control road dust emissions effectively. It stressed that proper road paving and maintenance are crucial in reducing dust resuspension due to vehicular movement, thereby enhancing dust mitigation measures. Authorities have been urged to expedite pending redevelopment works and ensure regular maintenance to comply with the Standard Framework.
Inspection drives will persist in Delhi-NCR to oversee the implementation of air pollution control measures and prompt corrective actions as needed. The Commission underlined the significance of all road-owning agencies in Delhi-NCR adhering to the Standard Framework for long-term road dust mitigation.
