Responding to a controversial audio recording linked to the recent Davanagere bye-election and amidst discussions on the Karnataka Cabinet, Congress leader Zameer Ahmad Khan, a close aide of outgoing Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, dismissed the viral clip as “fake.” Khan asserted that the audio, allegedly created using Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology, was part of a political conspiracy to tarnish his image.
In a press statement following the audio’s circulation on social media, Khan refuted the remarks attributed to him in the recording, emphasizing that he had not made any such statements. He warned of legal action against those responsible for producing and spreading the fabricated content, labeling it as an attempt to deceive and mislead the public.
Khan announced plans to file a complaint with cybercrime authorities and pursue legal measures against the perpetrators behind the audio’s fabrication. Challenging his detractors, he expressed willingness to cooperate with any investigative agency to verify the audio’s authenticity, maintaining his stance on the clip’s falsity.
The controversy stemmed from a 3-minute and 51-second edited video featuring the disputed audio, widely shared on social platforms. Allegedly capturing a conversation between Khan and a Davanagere Congress leader named Siraj, the recording hinted at discussions on voting strategies and advised against mobilizing Muslim voters for the party’s official candidate.
