Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge expressed that the swearing-in ceremony of V.D. Satheesan as Kerala’s 13th Chief Minister is a historic moment for the state. He mentioned that all Cabinet Ministers and LDF ministers will take oath together, celebrating an unprecedented victory with a significant majority. Senior Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala also highlighted the event’s importance, emphasizing the public’s mandate for change.

Preparations were underway at the Central Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram for V.D. Satheesan’s oath-taking ceremony. The atmosphere was charged with celebration and anticipation as the Congress-led UDF prepared to assume power after a decade. Governor Rajendra V. Arlekar is set to administer the oath of office to the new cabinet, marking the end of CPI(M) veteran Pinarayi Vijayan’s rule.

The swearing-in ceremony signifies not just a change in government but also the dawn of a new political era in Kerala, as described by Congress leaders. The state capital was bustling with activity, adorned with festive decorations, as supporters gathered to witness the historic transition of power. The UDF’s strong comeback, securing 102 seats in the 140-member Assembly, with the Congress winning a record 63 seats, marked a significant political shift in the state.
