Congress leaders in Madhya Pradesh have called for a judicial investigation into alleged land deals in Ujjain connected to Chief Minister Mohan Yadav’s family. The demand follows reports that family members acquired significant land in Ujjain, potentially benefiting from upcoming infrastructure projects. State Congress President Jitu Patwari labeled the allegations as a “huge stain on the face of Madhya Pradesh” and urged the Chief Minister to address the concerns raised.
Seeking intervention from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Patwari emphasized the need for a Supreme Court judge to lead the investigation. Leader of Opposition Umang Singhar highlighted that the claims are supported by evidence and questioned the delay in conducting an inquiry despite government assurances. Congress leader Mukesh Nayak raised concerns over the rapid increase in land ownership by politicians in Madhya Pradesh over the past two decades, suggesting potential corruption issues.
Accusations of politicians amassing wealth while the public suffers were made by Nayak, reflecting broader discontent within the Congress party. Sajjan Singh Verma, another Congress leader, criticized the Chief Minister for allegedly influencing development projects to benefit his family’s land holdings. Meanwhile, Acharya Satish Maharaj emphasized the importance of integrity in public service, condemning any wrongdoing that may harm public welfare.
