Celebrations erupted at the Congress headquarters in Thiruvananthapuram as the United Democratic Front (UDF) led by Congress is poised for a significant win in Kerala. With UDF leading in 97 seats, the Left Front in 40, and the BJP in three seats, the atmosphere at the Congress office was jubilant. State president Sunny Joseph closely monitored the results on TV screens as the UDF surged ahead.
Senior leaders, including Ramesh Chennithala and K.C. Venugopal, received enthusiastic welcomes at the headquarters. Chennithala, leading in Haripad by over 10,000 votes, was lifted onto shoulders by exultant party workers upon his arrival. Venugopal, a potential chief ministerial candidate, was also greeted with fervor as he entered the building.
Leader of Opposition V.D. Satheesan’s arrival, after a brief setback in Paravur, further heightened the celebratory mood. Satheesan’s lead prompted chaotic scenes at the KPCC office, with supporters cheering him inside. As the UDF’s dominance solidified, party workers distributed sweets outside, underscoring the impending shift in Kerala’s political landscape.
