Fifteen years since the Congress last held power in Kerala under Oommen Chandy, the state witnessed a politically charged morning as the Congress-led UDF reclaimed power. V.D. Satheesan will be sworn in as Kerala’s 13th Chief Minister, succeeding CPI(M) veteran Pinarayi Vijayan.
The swearing-in ceremony signifies not just a change in government but the dawn of a new political era in Kerala. The state capital buzzed with celebration as Congress workers and supporters gathered at the Central Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram.
The UDF’s remarkable comeback saw them secure 102 seats in the 140-member Assembly, with the Congress alone winning a record 63 seats. The ceremony is expected to be a grand affair with top national leaders like Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra in attendance.
Chief Ministers from Congress-ruled states are also expected to join the event, highlighting the national significance of the Kerala victory. The new Cabinet will include 12 Congress members, with a mix of experienced and young leaders taking oath.
