On International Women’s Day, Rafeek Khan, Congress Chief Whip in the Rajasthan Assembly, announced a unique initiative to boost women’s involvement in development projects. He allocated Rs 1 crore from his MLA fund to aid development in the Adarsh Nagar constituency. Khan encouraged over 40 women Councillors and social workers to identify local development needs and propose projects aligned with community priorities.
The Congress leader emphasized that the allocated fund would be utilized by women representatives for executing development projects. Khan assured that the amount could be increased if necessary to ensure the successful implementation of initiatives. Expressing concern over the neglect of women’s issues in recent budgets, he highlighted the discontinuation of schemes like Udaan Yojana and the slowdown of the scooter scheme for female students by the current state government.
Khan stressed that the initiative goes beyond financial aid, aiming to empower women by involving them directly in the development process. He believes this move will enhance gender equality and foster women-led development at the grassroots level. The event witnessed the participation of various women representatives and social workers from the Assembly constituency, including Sunita Mahawar, Rabia Gudage, and Gunjan Sharma, among others.
