Congress MP Manish Tewari criticized the Election Commission, alleging it favored the BJP during the West Bengal elections. Tewari claimed that democratic institutions and government machinery were misused to influence the electoral process in the state. He expressed concerns over the impartiality of the Election Commission and accused it of acting as a tool of the ruling party.
Tewari highlighted discrepancies in the election results, pointing out that in many constituencies, the margin of victory exceeded the number of people who were reportedly prevented from voting. He emphasized the need for a thorough assessment of the election outcomes and criticized the BJP for allegedly misusing government resources during the polls.
The Congress leader further criticized the Election Commission for its perceived lack of neutrality in overseeing the electoral process in West Bengal. He condemned what he described as the complete misuse of government machinery, asserting that the Election Commission operated in a manner aligned with the interests of the BJP, rather than upholding impartiality.
Tewari also commented on the political landscape in Punjab, dismissing comparisons between Punjab and other states where the BJP has gained ground. He stated that Punjab’s social and political ethos does not align with the BJP’s ideology, emphasizing the historical resilience of Punjabis in safeguarding their land against external threats. Tewari underscored the uniqueness of Punjab’s political identity and its resistance to external influences.
