Congress MP Amrinder Singh Raja Warring from Ludhiana expressed disappointment over the upcoming docu-series ‘Lawrence of Punjab’. He criticized the series for glorifying a gangster responsible for the death of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala. Amrinder emphasized that such content is disrespectful to the state’s identity and history.
Lawrence Bishnoi, the central figure of the series, is a notorious gangster operating from Sabarmati Central Jail. Known for high-profile assassinations, including Moose Wala’s murder, Bishnoi remains a significant criminal threat in India. Goldy Brar, a key accomplice, was involved in the fatal attack on Moose Wala in Punjab’s Mansa district.
The docu-series has sparked controversy in Punjab, a region plagued by issues like drug abuse and violence against popular figures. Bishnoi’s criminal activities have also extended to issuing threats against Bollywood actor Salman Khan. Khan, under heightened security due to these threats, faces ongoing safety concerns.
