Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has appointed Presidents for nine district units of the party in Tripura. This move is part of a nationwide initiative to strengthen the organization’s grassroots connection. The appointments were made under the ‘Sangathan Srijan Abhiyan’ campaign aimed at enhancing the party’s organizational structure.
All India Congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary K.C. Venugopal stated that the appointments were approved by the Congress President to revamp the District Congress Committees (DCCs) in Tripura. AICC observers conducted detailed reviews in each district, engaging with party members and stakeholders before finalizing the appointments. This process included one-to-one discussions with observers and senior party leaders.
Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee President Asish Kumar Saha mentioned that central party observers interacted extensively with grassroots leaders and workers in all nine organizational districts of the state. The newly appointed district presidents represent diverse sections of society, including Tribal communities, Scheduled Castes, women, Other Backward Classes (OBCs), and youth leaders. This move reflects the party’s focus on social inclusiveness.
The Congress has shifted its approach to appointing leaders, emphasizing recommendations from grassroots workers and local leaders at the state, district, and block levels. This bottom-up strategy is being implemented nationwide to strengthen the party’s responsiveness to people’s aspirations and concerns. The ‘Sangathan Srijan Abhiyan’ campaign aims to build a more connected and people-centric party structure, starting with the District Congress Committees.
Another Congress leader highlighted that the ‘Sangathan Srijan Abhiyan’ was launched after the recent AICC session in Ahmedabad. This initiative seeks to create a more accountable and people-centric party structure by empowering dedicated and high-performing party workers with greater responsibilities.
