Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge expressed deep sorrow over the tragic fire at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Odisha’s Cuttack, which claimed the lives of at least 10 patients and left several others injured. Kharge conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the affected families and urged Congress workers to provide support to those impacted. President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi also expressed grief over the incident, with PM Modi announcing financial assistance from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund for the families of the deceased patients.

Odisha Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, and Leader of Opposition Naveen Patnaik, among others, shared their condolences for the victims. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi visited the hospital, reviewed the situation, and announced financial aid for the families of the deceased patients. He further assured a thorough investigation into the incident and promised strict action against any negligence contributing to the tragedy.

A major fire broke out at the ICU of the Trauma Care Centre at SCB Medical College due to a suspected electric short circuit in the early hours of Monday. Seven patients died on the spot, while three others passed away after being transferred to different ICUs for treatment.
