Commenting on the recent violence in Ballari following a dispute over banner installation that led to the death of a Congress worker, Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar stated that the Congress party stands in solidarity with MLA Nara Bharath Reddy. Shivakumar emphasized that the Congress would support their MLA throughout the investigation process. He highlighted that the violence erupted only after the arrival of BJP MLA Janardhana Reddy in Ballari.

Shivakumar pointed out that the Congress party is backing MLA Bharat Reddy, who took responsibility for the construction of a statue of Maharshi Valmiki in Ballari. He questioned the need for the confrontation initiated by Janardhana Reddy over the installation of posters across the city. Shivakumar stressed that the law would take its course, ensuring that those found guilty would face appropriate consequences.

In response to allegations and claims made by Janardhana Reddy, Shivakumar dismissed them as dramatic and unfounded. He emphasized the importance of restoring peace in Ballari and ensuring a peaceful atmosphere for the residents. Shivakumar also mentioned that a committee had been formed to investigate the incident, and steps were being taken to regulate the issuance and possession of firearms in the district.

Shivakumar clarified that the party does not support any violent actions, including setting houses on fire, and emphasized the need for a thorough investigation to determine the responsible parties. He reiterated the commitment to upholding peace and security in Ballari and addressing the aftermath of the recent events.
