The Bagalkot Assembly segment in Karnataka saw the Congress clinching a significant victory with a margin of 22,332 votes. Celebrations erupted among Congress workers as Umesh Meti secured a decisive win with 98,919 votes, defeating the BJP candidate who garnered 76,587 votes after 23 rounds of counting.
In contrast, the Davanagere South constituency is witnessing a tight race, with the Congress leading by 5,657 votes. Samarth Mallikarjun of Congress is ahead with 59,992 votes, while BJP’s Srinivasa T. Dasakariyappa trails with 54,335 votes after 18 rounds of counting. The Socialist Democratic Party of India’s Afsar Kodlipet managed to secure 18,203 votes.
Umesh Meti, expressing gratitude for the support received, emphasized the collective effort of Congress workers and leaders in securing the victory. He pledged to focus on developing the constituency and realizing his late father’s vision of establishing a medical college.
