The problem of contaminated drinking water has reappeared in Indore, specifically in Mahavir Nagar of Ward No. 16. Residents have raised complaints about receiving foul-smelling and dirty water for days, resulting in illnesses among the population. This recurrence follows a previous similar incident in Bhagirathpura, raising concerns about the city’s water supply system and monitoring protocols.
Residents of Mahavir Nagar have voiced concerns about contaminated water flowing through taps for nearly a week. Numerous families have reported symptoms like vomiting, diarrhea, and stomach-related issues, although the exact number of affected individuals is yet to be officially confirmed. Saurabh Tiwari, a resident, expressed frustration over the lack of prompt action despite complaints to elected representatives and civic officials.
Tiwari highlighted that residents had consistently raised alarms about the declining water quality in the area. Despite efforts to notify authorities, including the local councillor, no effective solutions were provided. Teams from the Indore Municipal Corporation have responded to residents’ complaints by inspecting the water distribution network and borewell in the locality. Health Department officials and representatives from a non-governmental organization have also visited to assess the situation.
