The controversy surrounding the alleged allotment of government property to the Veer Bharat Nyas has escalated legally. Shriram Tiwari, the trust’s Secretary, has served a Rs 5 crore defamation notice on Madhya Pradesh Congress President Jitu Patwari. Tiwari demands a public apology from Patwari within three days for his accusations of irregularities involving the trust.
Patwari, during a press conference in New Delhi, accused the Madhya Pradesh government of leasing government land and a building in Ujjain to the Veer Bharat Nyas for a token amount of Re 1, valued at around Rs 500 crore. Tiwari, who also serves as Cultural Adviser to Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, refutes these allegations and seeks a retraction and apology from Patwari within the stipulated time frame to avoid legal action.
Advocate Harish Mehta, representing Tiwari, emphasized that the allegations are baseless and have harmed his client’s reputation. Mehta stated that if Patwari retracts his statements and apologizes, no further legal steps will be taken. Rejecting the accusations, Mehta reiterated that the Veer Bharat Nyas operates as a registered public trust, adhering to all legal requirements and working for cultural and social causes.
