The Communist Party of India (CPI) praised Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay for initiating a new political culture by meeting senior leaders from various parties. This move is seen as a step towards fostering political dialogue and mutual respect in the state. CPI’s state Secretary commended Vijay for reaching out to veteran leaders, including those from CPI and CPI-M, before and after assuming office.
Vijay’s efforts to engage with leaders like Dravidar Kazhagam President K. Veeramani, DMK President M.K. Stalin, and MDMK General Secretary Vaiko have been noted. The CPI highlighted that such interactions were rare in Tamil Nadu’s recent political landscape, emphasizing the potential for Vijay’s approach to revive democratic traditions in the state. Following his oath-taking, Vijay visited several senior leaders, including Stalin and Vaiko, to seek their greetings and guidance.
The meetings between Vijay and leaders like PMK President Dr Anbumani Ramadoss and Naam Tamilar Katchi Chief Coordinator Seeman hold political significance. These interactions come in the aftermath of a fragmented mandate in the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, leading to the formation of the TVK government with support from various parties. Vijay’s outreach is viewed as a significant step in bridging the gap between ruling and opposition parties, fostering a more collaborative political environment.
