Congress leader Prithviraj Chavan acknowledged the emergence of cracks within the opposition INDIA bloc. This acknowledgment follows Tamil Nadu’s absence from an INDIA bloc meeting due to strained relations with the Congress. Chavan expressed concern over the internal divisions within the alliance, citing unmet public expectations.
Chavan highlighted the need to defeat the BJP, emphasizing widespread public discontent. Drawing parallels to political splits in Maharashtra and West Bengal, he underscored the challenges faced by the Trinamool Congress. Despite internal rifts, Chavan affirmed the Congress’s commitment to public engagement and advocacy.
Uttar Pradesh Congress President Ajay Rai likened the party to a resilient “banyan tree,” asserting its stability and importance in the political landscape. While the CPI-M and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha participated in the INDIA bloc meeting, tensions with the Congress were evident. Issues such as seat-sharing and past remarks strained relations but were eventually resolved.
