Cricket Australia has announced the action-packed schedule for the 2026-27 international summer, featuring 27 matches across 14 venues over an extended eight-month period. The summer will kick off in August with two Tests against Bangladesh and will culminate with the historic 150th anniversary Test against England at the MCG in March next year.
The highly anticipated Test series between Australia and India, known as the ‘Border-Gavaskar Trophy,’ is expected to start around mid- or late-January. Players like Cummins, Steve Smith, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, and Nathan Lyon, who have never won a series in India, will be looking to conquer this final frontier.
The men’s and women’s international cricket window will span seven months, with the men’s team facing a challenging schedule of playing 10 Tests in 14 weeks between December and March. This rigorous fixture is set to be one of the toughest ever for an Australian team.
Australia’s men’s team will kick off their international campaign with a two-Test series against Bangladesh in August 2026, followed by a three-match Test series in South Africa in October. The schedule also includes a first-ever four-Test series against New Zealand, marking a significant event in cricket history.
The Gabba has been excluded from the Test schedule due to uncertainties about its future. Instead, Queensland will host a Test in Mackay against Bangladesh at the Great Barrier Reef Arena, with the series opener in Darwin preceding this match.
Australia’s men will travel to India for a five-match series for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy from January to March 2027, marking the conclusion of the ongoing WTC cycle. The men’s team will wrap up their calendar with a Day-Night Test against England in March to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the first Test match.
Australia’s women’s team will also have a busy schedule, starting with a series against Bangladesh in October, followed by matches against New Zealand in February. The ODI matches will contribute to the women’s ODI Championship, influencing qualification and seeding for the 2029 Women’s ODI World Cup.
Cricket Australia’s chief executive, Todd Greenberg, expressed excitement about the upcoming international schedule, highlighting the significance of various series and matches across the country. The 150th Anniversary Test Match at the MCG is anticipated to be a grand finale to the summer, celebrating the historic rivalry and the stars of Test cricket.
