A criminal with a reward of Rs 50,000 and facing numerous cases in Delhi-NCR was apprehended in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, after a police encounter that left him with gunshot wounds in both legs. The arrest followed the abduction of Omkar Singh from Ganauli village reported on May 30, with ongoing efforts to capture those responsible.
Police received a tip-off about the accused on Saturday, leading to a checking operation near the Banthla-Chirodi Road canal. Upon spotting a suspicious white car, the driver attempted to flee upon police intervention, resulting in a chase that ended with the car crashing into a tree. The accused then tried to escape on foot and fired at the police, prompting the authorities to shoot him in self-defense.
Identified as Gaurav Nagar, the arrested criminal confessed during interrogation to the abduction and subsequent murder of Omkar Singh, disclosing the disposal of the body in Ganganagar on the Rohta-Meerut Road. Upon arrest, the police recovered a pistol and four cartridges from Nagar, who was also carrying a reward of Rs 50,000. Legal procedures are currently in progress.
