Crowds flocked to Gir Somnath as Prime Minister Narendra Modi journeyed through the district in a roadshow en route to the Somnath Temple. Supporters lined the route, and various displays were set up to welcome him.
One notable supporter, known as ‘Junior Bachchan’ locally, Pinakin Gohil from Bhavnagar, carried a large decorative replica of the Somnath Temple during the procession. Gohil, who works in the entertainment field, joined the roadshow route as the Prime Minister headed towards the temple complex.
The replica he carried was rich in symbolism, portraying Prime Minister Modi alongside his late mother Heeraba and featuring imagery of the Statue of Unity associated with Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. It also included references to Hamirji Gohil, historically linked to the defence of Somnath.
Gohil expressed that his participation was a gesture of respect during the ongoing ‘Amrut Parv’ celebrations at Somnath. He highlighted the significant public turnout at the temple site and along the roadshow route, emphasizing the enthusiastic participation of devotees in the celebrations and rituals at the temple.
He praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s public engagement, attributing to him the enhancement of India’s international prestige and development. Gohil urged devotees and visitors to visit Somnath for darshan at the shrine, encouraging public engagement with the religious site.
The roadshow attracted large crowds along its route, with residents and visitors gathering on both sides of the road to catch a glimpse of the convoy. These events were part of the broader activities associated with the Amrut Parv celebrations at the Somnath temple complex, showcasing sustained public involvement in Gir Somnath district.
