Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee President D.K. Shivakumar met Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot to stake claim to form the next government in Karnataka. Shivakumar, elected leader of the Congress Legislature Party, will be sworn in as Chief Minister on June 3.

Shivakumar, in a letter to the Governor, highlighted his unanimous election as the CLP leader by 135 Congress members and others. The swearing-in ceremony for Shivakumar and his Council of Ministers is scheduled for 4.05 p.m. at Raj Bhavan in Bengaluru.

Governor Gehlot responded by inviting Shivakumar to take oath as Chief Minister along with his Council of Ministers. The formal ceremony is set to take place on June 3 at 4.05 p.m. at the Raj Bhavan premises in Bengaluru.
