Daryl Mitchell’s impressive unbeaten 131 off 117 balls steered New Zealand to a seven-wicket win over India in the second ODI at the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot. India posted 284/7 with KL Rahul scoring 112 not out, his eighth century in the format.
Despite a shaky start at 46/2, Mitchell and Will Young’s partnership of 162 runs off 152 balls for the third wicket turned the game around for New Zealand. Mitchell’s eighth ODI century, featuring 11 fours and two sixes, was pivotal in securing the victory.
While Young contributed 87 off 98 balls before departing, Mitchell’s dominance, especially against Kuldeep Yadav, was a highlight. Glenn Phillips’ unbeaten 32 off 25 balls further supported Mitchell’s stellar performance.
Mitchell’s match-winning knock, which included dismantling Kuldeep Yadav, ensured New Zealand’s victory with 15 balls to spare. The series now moves to Indore for the deciding match on Sunday.
