India’s Deepti Sharma has created history in global cricket by becoming the first player, in both men’s and women’s T20I cricket, to achieve 1000 runs and 150 wickets. This remarkable feat was accomplished during the third T20I against Sri Lanka in Thiruvananthapuram. Deepti’s performance underscores her versatility as a top white-ball cricketer.
Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur lauded Deepti’s achievement, calling it “total magic.” With a stellar three-wicket haul, Deepti now shares the record for the highest wickets in women’s T20I history alongside Australia’s Megan Schutt, both at 151 wickets. Sri Lanka’s Kavisha Dilhari reached her 150th wicket milestone during the match.
India secured a commanding 3-0 series lead against Sri Lanka with a convincing eight-wicket victory in the third T20I. Shafali Verma’s unbeaten 79 off 42 balls led the chase, supported by a strong bowling performance from Renuka Singh Thakur and Deepti. Deepti’s recent form has been exceptional, earning her accolades at the 2025 ICC Women’s World Cup and a significant bid in the Women’s Premier League auction.
