Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh participated in a series of bilateral meetings with key global security officials during the Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore. The discussions primarily focused on enhancing bilateral defence cooperation. Singh met with Sweden’s State Secretary to the Minister of Defence, Peter Sandwall, to explore avenues for strengthening defence ties and expanding collaboration in technology and innovation. The Ministry of Defence highlighted the interaction, emphasizing the aim to enhance India-Sweden defence engagement.
Singh also engaged in talks with Netherlands’ General Onno Eichelsheim to discuss ways to deepen bilateral defence relations, including military exchange programs and joint training events. The Ministry of Defence underscored the importance of enhancing defence cooperation between India and the Netherlands through such initiatives. Additionally, Singh interacted with Belen Martinez Carbonell and Lieutenant General Enrico Barduani from the European Union, focusing on advancing strategic dialogue and deepening defence and strategic cooperation between India and the EU.
Furthering his bilateral engagements, Singh met with Netherland’s Defence Minister, Dilan Yesilgoz-Zegerius, to explore avenues for deepening military cooperation and expanding collaboration in the defence industrial sector. The discussions emphasized strengthening military-to-military ties and enhancing defence industrial collaboration to reflect the evolving strategic partnership between India and the Netherlands. Earlier in the day, Singh also held discussions with Australian Defence Secretary Ms Meghan Quinn, reviewing the progress of the India-Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and exploring opportunities for enhanced defence cooperation in mutual interest areas.
