Describing yoga as a 5,000-year-old tradition from India that harmonizes the mind, body, and spirit for improved health, the proclamation emphasized its physical and mental health benefits.
The practice of yoga was lauded for enhancing physical strength, flexibility, mental clarity, and emotional balance, providing effective tools for stress management and community health. Governor Meyer highlighted that the United Nations designated June 21st as International Day of Yoga to promote the global awareness of yoga’s advantages.
Acknowledging the Indian American community’s efforts in Delaware, the proclamation mentioned their collaboration with the Consulate General of India in New York to host local events promoting wellness, peace, and unity.
