Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta praised Abhinav Borgohain, Sujal Sharma, and Riya Pandey for securing the top three spots at the state-level ‘Viksit Bharat’ Youth Parliament 2026 held at the Vidhan Sabha. The winners will advance to the national competition at Parliament, as announced by Gupta.
Gupta highlighted that the ‘Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament’ at the state level aims to foster leadership abilities, civic engagement, and a profound comprehension of the democratic process. The initiative aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of engaging 100,000 young leaders in politics, as emphasized by Gupta during his address to the participants.
The event was a collaborative effort by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, in partnership with Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan Delhi and Delhi Legislative Assembly. Eminent members of the Legislative Assembly, including Anil Goel, Poonam Bhardwaj, Tilak Raj Gupta, and Sanjay Goyal, served as judges for the competition.
Poonam Sharma, State Director, MY Bharat Delhi, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, along with Ramesh Soni, Assistant Director of MY Bharat Delhi, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, were also present at the event. The Youth Parliament comprised fifty participants selected from district-level youth parliaments across various districts of Delhi.
Gupta emphasized that the pursuit of ‘Viksit Bharat @2047’ hinges on the ideas, diligence, and democratic dedication of the youth. He underlined India’s evolution into a “Global Solution Provider” on the international platform, going beyond being solely a burgeoning economy.
The Youth Parliament, according to the Speaker, serves as a practical exercise in democracy, aiding students in mastering policy formulation and the art of consensus-building amidst differing viewpoints. Gupta encouraged participants to be proactive citizens who not only identify issues but also offer viable solutions, stressing that the essence of democracy lies in factual arguments rather than vocal intensity.
Describing leadership and politics as potent tools for effecting positive change in society, the Speaker urged participants to leverage these avenues for the betterment of every individual in the community.
