Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta participated in the “Metro Monday” campaign to promote fuel conservation by using public transport for his commute from Tilak Marg to Vidhan Sabha. Starting from the Supreme Court Metro Station, Speaker Gupta engaged with commuters, emphasizing the significance of eco-friendly travel choices in daily routines. Changing trains at Rajiv Chowk Metro Station, he continued his journey to Vidhan Sabha Metro Station and ultimately reached the Delhi Legislative Assembly premises.
Inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for fuel saving, the “Metro Monday” initiative encourages the public to utilize public transportation to reduce fuel consumption. This initiative also aims to enhance sustainable urban mobility, alleviate traffic congestion, and encourage public involvement in environmentally conscious practices throughout the national capital. The campaign has garnered support from various government officials, including Lieutenant Governor T.S. Sandhu, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, and Cabinet Ministers, who have actively participated in promoting the cause of fuel conservation through public transport usage.
As part of the “Metro Monday” campaign under the “Mera Bharat, Mera Yogdan” initiative by the Delhi government, officials and ministers have been utilizing public transport options like the Delhi Metro to advocate for fuel conservation and responsible citizenship. Minister for Social Welfare, SC/ST/OBC Welfare, Cooperatives, and Elections Ravinder Indraj Singh recently utilized Metro and feeder bus services to commute to the Delhi Secretariat, emphasizing the importance of public engagement in fuel conservation efforts. Labour Minister Kapil Mishra and Education Minister Ashish Sood have also shown their support by using the Metro and interacting with passengers to promote sustainable transportation practices.
