The upcoming session of the Delhi Assembly is set to kick off with the rendition of the patriotic song ‘Vande Mataram’ followed by an address from Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena. This session, scheduled from January 5 to 8, will feature the presentation of crucial Comptroller Auditor General of India (CAG) reports concerning the previous Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government. Among the reports to be tabled are those related to spending on Arvind Kejriwal’s official residence, Delhi Jal Board finances, and alleged corruption in government-funded colleges.
Delhi Minister Kapil Mishra highlighted that discussions during the session will not only focus on financial irregularities but also on combating pollution. Scientific reports spanning the last two decades on pollution conditions will be presented, along with a strategic plan for future pollution control measures. The government aims for an inclusive dialogue on pollution control, welcoming inputs from Opposition members as well.
Emphasizing a zero-tolerance stance on corruption, Minister Mishra pointed out recent disciplinary actions taken against officials involved in malpractice. He criticized AAP leaders for what he termed as spreading falsehoods to maintain relevance, cautioning against repeating past mistakes that led to their defeat. Additionally, he addressed the AAP government in Punjab, urging them to fulfill electoral promises for better governance.
