Delhi BJP President, Harsh Malhotra, praised the state government’s move to incorporate 300 new electric buses into the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) fleet. Under Chief Minister Rekha Gupta’s leadership, the BJP government has introduced a total of 2,386 electric buses in Delhi within just 16 months, setting a significant milestone. Malhotra criticized the previous Arvind Kejriwal-led government for not procuring a single bus during its decade-long tenure, contrasting it with the current fleet of 6,297 buses in operation, including 1,759 CNG buses and 4,538 electric buses.
Malhotra highlighted that Delhi now boasts the world’s third-largest fleet of electric buses, following Shenzhen and Beijing in China. He also took aim at Kejriwal for questioning the introduction of E20 fuel by the Centre, emphasizing Kejriwal’s lack of substantial contributions towards combating pollution or enhancing public transportation during his previous term. As the Punjab Assembly elections draw near, Malhotra suggested that Kejriwal’s recent statements reflect a fear of losing power and a bid to maintain political relevance in the media.
The Delhi BJP President criticized Kejriwal for commenting on various issues, such as the NEET examination and fuel quality, while remaining silent on critical matters like the drug problem and crime in Punjab. Malhotra pointed out Kejriwal’s silence on Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s alleged disrespect towards the Sikh faith, implying a selective approach to issues based on political expediency.
