Describing Arvind Kejriwal as a “Political Hindu,” Delhi BJP President Harsh Malhotra criticized Kejriwal’s recent organization of Shri Sundarkand Paath in Rohini as a tactic aimed at the upcoming Punjab Assembly elections. Malhotra accused Kejriwal of resorting to such religious events whenever he feels politically pressured, highlighting the unfulfilled promise of holding similar gatherings at over 2,000 locations.
Malhotra pointed out the contradiction in Kejriwal’s stance on the Ram Mandir issue, noting that his current statements differ from his past refusal to visit Ayodhya due to its disputed history. He alleged that the Shri Sunderkand Paath event is a strategic move to sway Hindu voters in Punjab and other upcoming state elections, following the electoral outcomes in West Bengal and Assam.
The Delhi BJP President recalled Kejriwal’s previous remarks about not wanting to visit a temple built after the demolition of a mosque, emphasizing the sudden shift in Kejriwal’s approach towards Hindutva post the construction of the Shri Ram Temple in Ayodhya in 2024. Malhotra criticized the AAP leader for initiating weekly Shri Sundarkand Paath programs in Delhi but failing to sustain them beyond a few constituencies, labeling it as a display of insincere religious devotion for political gain.
