Delhi Police swiftly resolved a reported robbery case within four hours, revealing that the complainant himself orchestrated the incident. The complainant, identified as Gurnaam Singh alias Happy, had claimed that armed men robbed him of Rs 5 lakh near Dwarkadheesh Apartment in Rohini. However, police discovered that Singh had fabricated the robbery and hidden the cash in his vehicle.
The case unfolded on July 10 when a PCR call reported the alleged robbery by three unidentified men in a Thar SUV. Singh, who worked at a spare-parts workshop, alleged that he was entrusted with delivering the cash. Subsequent investigations by the police revealed inconsistencies in Singh’s account, leading to the recovery of the entire Rs 5 lakh concealed in his vehicle.
A special police team, under the leadership of Inspector Parmod Kumar, conducted a thorough investigation into the matter. Technical surveillance and detailed verification of Singh’s movements confirmed that the reported robbery never occurred. Despite repeated questioning, Singh maintained his false narrative until confronted with the recovered cash, prompting his confession.
Singh, admitting to fabricating the robbery due to financial struggles, was arrested on charges of furnishing false information and breaching trust. Additional sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita were invoked against him. The police continue their inquiry into the case to uncover further details.
