Delhi Capitals, three-time finalists, chose to field after winning the toss against defending champions Mumbai Indians in the 13th match of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 at Vadodara’s Kotambi Stadium. While Mumbai Indians made several changes to their playing XI, Delhi Capitals introduced 16-year-old Deeya Yadav in place of Mennu Mani. G Kamalini’s injury led to Vaishnavi Sharma replacing her, with Hayley Matthews returning to the squad for her playing style.

Delhi Capitals Women’s captain Jemimah Rodrigues expressed the team’s preference to bowl first due to the pitch conditions. She emphasized the importance of playing through the line on this pitch and focusing on the process rather than just winning. Rodrigues praised Deeya Yadav, highlighting her ability to hit the ball well despite her young age.

Mumbai Indians captain Harmanpreet Kaur acknowledged the advantage of bowling first based on the pitch and atmospheric conditions. She mentioned the team’s efforts to regroup after two consecutive losses, aiming for a positive and clear performance in the current game. Kaur announced team changes, including Vaishnavi Sharma’s debut in place of the injured Kamalini and Hayley’s return to the squad for her suitability to the playing surface.

The playing XIs for the match are as follows:
Mumbai Indians Women: Hayley Kristen Matthews, Sajeevan Sajana, Nat Sciver-Brunt, Harmanpreet Kaur (c), Rahila Firdous (wk), Nicola Carey, Amanjot Kaur, Poonam Khemnar, Sanskriti Gupta, Shabnim Ismail, Vaishnavi Sharma
Delhi Capitals Women: Shafali Verma, Lizelle Lee (wk), Laura Wolvaardt, Jemimah Rodrigues (c), Deeya Yadav, Marizanne Kapp, Lucy Hamilton, Niki Prasad, Sneh Rana, Shree Charani, Nandani Sharma
