Nandni Sharma’s impressive 3-26 bowling performance led Delhi Capitals to restrict Royal Challengers Bengaluru to a mere 109 runs in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) match at the BCA Stadium in Vadodara. Sharma’s exceptional control and mastery of slower deliveries have earned her 13 wickets in the current WPL season, making her the highest wicket-taker among Indian pacers in WPL history. Alongside Sharma, Marizanne Kapp, Chinelle Henry, and Minnu Mani also contributed with two wickets each, while Sree Charani claimed one.
RCB’s skipper Smriti Mandhana played a crucial knock of 38 runs off 34 balls before her dismissal triggered a collapse for RCB, resulting in their lowest WPL total. Despite Radha Yadav’s resistance, RCB struggled to post a competitive score, with only three batters reaching double figures. The match saw a quick succession of wickets, with Grace Harris falling after a promising start, followed by Georgia Voll and Gautami Naik.
Inserted to bat first, Smriti and Harris provided a solid start with seven boundaries in 4.3 overs before RCB lost wickets in quick succession. Radha Yadav’s efforts to stabilize the innings were in vain as she departed after a crucial six, leaving RCB struggling at 78/5. Nandni Sharma’s late bowling heroics, including three key dismissals in the closing overs, further solidified Delhi Capitals’ dominance in the match.
