After a seven-wicket victory against UP Warriorz, Delhi Capitals kick-started their Women’s Premier League 2026 campaign. Laura Wolvaardt, reflecting on the match, mentioned the team could have been more responsible to avoid a tense finish. Chasing 155 runs, DC successfully completed the chase with seven wickets in hand, thanks to strong performances by Shafali Verma, Lizelle Lee, Wolvaardt, and skipper Jemimah Rodrigues.

DC’s bowlers, led by Marizanne Kapp and Shafali Verma, restricted UP Warriorz to 154 for 8, setting the stage for their successful chase. Wolvaardt expressed relief at the close finish, highlighting the team’s ability to handle pressure. She also noted the challenges posed by the slower pitch and praised Lizelle Lee’s consistent performance at the top of the order.

Praising skipper Jemimah Rodrigues for her leadership qualities, Wolvaardt commended her communication skills and inspirational captaincy. Looking ahead, Delhi Capitals will face Royal Challengers Bengaluru in their upcoming match, aiming to maintain their winning momentum.
