Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta initiated the construction of the Inderlok-Indraprastha Metro Corridor at the Sarai Rohilla Metro Station. The project’s first phase began with the construction of the diaphragm wall at Sarai Rohilla Metro Station, as per an official statement. The Chief Minister emphasized that the Delhi Metro is crucial for the city’s development, offering safe, fast, and eco-friendly public transport.
The 12.377-km Inderlok-Indraprastha Corridor will be an underground extension of Delhi Metro’s Magenta Line (Line-8), featuring 10 modern underground Metro stations. Once completed, this corridor will extend the Magenta Line to nearly 89 kilometers, becoming the longest line in the Delhi Metro network. It will enhance connectivity with seven major Metro lines, facilitating faster and more convenient travel across the capital.
The new Metro corridor will link important destinations like Sarai Rohilla Railway Station, New Delhi Railway Station, India Gate, and Central Vista. It aims to benefit a wide range of commuters, including government employees, students, traders, and tourists. Additionally, it will strengthen public transport access to key areas like Karol Bagh, educational institutions, and major commercial zones.
