On International Women’s Day, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta participated in the ‘Shakti Walk – #SheLeadsBharat’ on Kartavya Path. The event, led by the Ministry of Women and Child Development, also saw Union Minister for Women and Child Development Annapurna Devi, along with other dignitaries like Anupriya Patel, Savitri Thakur, and Vijaya Rahatkar, joining the march. Starting from India Gate, the walk spanned nearly two kilometers, concluding at Vijay Chowk.
The Chief Minister highlighted the importance of honoring women’s leadership and contributions to society. She emphasized that women in India are not only the backbone of families but are also actively participating in nation-building efforts. Acknowledging Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s support, she praised women holding leadership positions across various sectors like science, administration, entrepreneurship, education, sports, and defense.
Describing the ‘Shakti Walk’ as more than just an event, Chief Minister Gupta emphasized its role as a collective commitment to empower and recognize women. She stressed the need to provide women with increased opportunities, security, and respect. The event witnessed the participation of around 3,000 women from diverse backgrounds, including armed forces, police, healthcare, sports, and government sectors, as well as grassroots workers.
