Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta expressed her vision to transform Delhi into a prominent global tourism destination during a conference with tourism stakeholders. She emphasized the need to shift Delhi’s image from a mere transit point to a city where tourists can engage in diverse experiences and extend their stays. Gupta engaged with stakeholders on various tourism aspects, including heritage, spiritual, digital, medical, wellness tourism, and night tourism, discussing strategies to enhance Delhi’s brand positioning.
At the conference, attended by Delhi’s Minister for Art, Culture, and Tourism Kapil Mishra, as well as the Managing Director of the Delhi Tourism and Transportation Development Corporation (DTTDC) Suneel Anchipaka, Chief Minister Gupta highlighted the importance of industry collaboration and expert insights in shaping effective tourism policies. She underscored Delhi’s potential as a significant attraction for international visitors, citing its historical landmarks like Parliament, Rashtrapati Bhavan, India Gate, Red Fort, and Qutub Minar, along with its rich cultural and culinary offerings that contribute to a unique tourism experience.
Gupta also emphasized the government’s efforts to position Delhi as a hub for medical and educational excellence, aiming to draw more visitors from around the world and provide them with enriching experiences. She mentioned initiatives such as promoting cultural events, film festivals, and concerts to enhance Delhi’s global recognition. Additionally, the Chief Minister highlighted the use of a film policy and a single-window system to streamline services for the tourism industry.
During the event, the DTTDC signed several significant agreements to foster innovation and collaboration within the tourism sector.
