Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta lauded the Union Budget 2026-27 as forward-thinking and citizen-centric, aiming to bolster India’s development and self-reliance. She commended Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s budget for reflecting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s strong leadership and fostering inclusive economic growth.
The Chief Minister highlighted three key priorities of the budget: boosting economic growth through investments, industries, and job creation; enhancing citizens’ lives for simplicity and safety; and ensuring inclusive development to benefit all sections of society under the vision of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas.
Gupta emphasized the budget’s focus on farmers, youth, women, and the underprivileged, with measures to increase farmers’ income, improve rural infrastructure, and create employment opportunities. The budget’s roadmap for enhancing domestic manufacturing to compete globally aligns with India’s self-reliance goals.
She praised the budget’s support for innovation in sectors like health, tourism, sports, and artificial intelligence, foreseeing increased employment opportunities and global competitiveness. The Chief Minister also welcomed the emphasis on cultural heritage and tourism for economic growth.
Regarding the Khelo India Mission, CM Gupta appreciated the government’s commitment to nurturing sports talent nationwide. She noted the budget’s benefits for citizens traveling abroad for education and healthcare, providing relief to the middle class and youth.
The allocation of Rs 1.4 lakh crore for state capital expenditure was seen as a positive step for development. Gupta hailed the Delhi-Varanasi high-speed rail corridor project for its historic significance in enhancing connectivity, tourism, and trade opportunities, strengthening Delhi’s developmental role.
She concluded by stating that the budget supports the middle class and lays a foundation for future growth, aiming for a self-reliant and empowered India. The Chief Minister expressed gratitude to PM Modi and FM Sitharaman, foreseeing the budget as a milestone in the nation’s progress.
