Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta initiated the ‘Somnath Swabhiman Parv – Somnath Yatra’ on Thursday, sending more than 1,400 devotees from Delhi to the revered Somnath Temple in Gujarat. Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat also attended the launch event.
A special train was flagged off by the Chief Minister for the yatra, scheduled to arrive at Somnath the next morning. Pilgrims will be in Somnath from May 1 to May 3, where they can offer prayers at the temple and visit nearby shrines. The entire pilgrimage is free of cost, with the Gujarat government providing accommodation, food, water, and other necessities.
Rekha Gupta mentioned, “The Somnath Swabhiman Parv Yatra celebrates 1,000 years of the Somnath temple… Today, we have sent a train with around 1,400 pilgrims from Delhi to visit Somnath. This is a moment of immense pride for us.”
The initiative, known as “Somnath Swabhiman Parv – Somnath Yatra”, aims to reconnect individuals with their spiritual and cultural heritage. The program is part of a broader effort to raise awareness about India’s religious legacy and customs.
