Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta expressed sadness over the death of a young girl who fell into an open drain in the Mukundpur area of Bhalswa Dairy. She has instructed the removal of a junior engineer for neglecting duty. The Chief Minister deemed the incident distressing and unacceptable due to negligence.
Acting promptly on the Chief Minister’s orders, the Irrigation and Flood Control Department has terminated the junior engineer’s contract immediately. Gupta emphasized that ensuring citizen safety, especially for children, is a top government priority. She warned all departments to identify and fix hazardous locations like open drains promptly.
Gupta stressed the need for accountability and warned of strict action against any negligence. She extended her condolences to the girl’s family and assured support during this tough time. The Chief Minister highlighted the importance of preventing such incidents from happening again as a tribute to the child’s memory.
In a separate incident, Gupta met with families affected by a recent fire in Vivek Vihar. She expressed solidarity with the families and pledged full assistance. Gupta emphasized the importance of adhering to fire safety standards to prevent future tragedies. The fire incident resulted in the loss of nine lives, including a toddler, with others sustaining injuries.
