Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has requested a detailed report from the South Delhi District Magistrate regarding the recent fire incident in Malviya Nagar, which resulted in 21 fatalities and numerous injuries. She emphasized that strict measures would be taken against those accountable for any oversights that may have led to the disaster.
The Emergency Operations Centre of the District Disaster Management Authority (South) was alerted about the fire at a guest house in Malviya Nagar’s Hauz Rani area at 8:52 a.m. Promptly, various emergency response agencies were activated, including firefighters, police, disaster management teams, and medical responders, who swiftly arrived at the scene where a multi-storey building was ablaze.
Rescue operations were promptly initiated, with teams from Delhi Fire Services, Delhi Police, the Delhi Disaster Management Authority, and CATS Ambulance Services mobilized without delay. Their quick response facilitated the evacuation of 47 individuals, who were subsequently transported to hospitals. Tragically, 21 individuals lost their lives, while others, including critically injured patients, are currently receiving medical care.
CM Gupta affirmed that the Delhi government is actively monitoring the situation, ensuring that the victims and their families receive necessary medical attention and support. She expressed solidarity with the affected families, reiterating the government’s commitment to extending all possible assistance to those impacted by the tragic incident.
