A Delhi court has given the National Investigation Agency (NIA) an additional 45 days to conclude its investigation into the Red Fort blast incident, which resulted in 11 fatalities and numerous injuries. While the NIA had requested a 90-day extension, the Patiala House Court has approved a 45-day extension for the agency to complete its probe.
The court has also extended the judicial custody of the seven individuals accused in the case until March 13. Among the accused, Shoaib was presented physically in court, while the remaining six appeared via video conferencing.
Earlier, the NIA was granted permission by Additional Sessions Judge Prashant Sharma to further question accused Yasir Ahmad Dar for 10 days. Additionally, the custody of co-accused Dr. Bilal Naseer Malla was prolonged. Dar, hailing from Shopian district in Jammu and Kashmir, is the ninth individual arrested in connection with the case.
The NIA has disclosed that Dar played an active role in the conspiracy behind the car bomb explosion in the national capital on November 10. Allegedly, he was deeply involved in the plot, having pledged allegiance and committed to carrying out self-sacrificial operations. The agency also asserts that Dar maintained close communication with other accused persons, including Dr. Umar Nabi and Mufti Irfan, linked to the case.
