Approving Delhi’s inaugural Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) Police Station, Lieutenant Governor (L-G) T.S. Sandhu aims for a ‘Drug-Free Delhi’ by 2027. He initiated the disposal of 1,700 kg of seized narcotics valued at Rs 72 crore at an incineration facility. L-G Sandhu emphasized the fight against drugs and organized crime by personally overseeing the destruction at Jahangirpuri.
The L-G urged the youth to shun addiction and pursue meaningful lives, advocating for purpose over peer pressure. He emphasized the collective effort to eradicate the drug market, shelter, and acceptance in the National Capital. L-G Sandhu highlighted the Delhi Police’s significant role in dismantling the drug ecosystem in the city, aligning with the vision of PM Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
In a bid to strengthen the anti-narcotics mission, the L-G announced the approval of Delhi’s first specialized Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) Police Station. The strategy focuses on disrupting traffickers’ financial networks while prioritizing community awareness through initiatives like ‘Nasha? Not Cool’. L-G Sandhu commended the Delhi Police’s efforts in returning over 12,600 phones to their rightful owners, showcasing the effectiveness of technology-enabled policing.
Lauding ‘Operation Vishwas’, an initiative by the Delhi Police to recover and return lost or stolen mobile phones, the L-G emphasized the collaborative role of citizens in combating crime. He acknowledged the dedicated work of police personnel in the successful recovery and return of stolen devices, highlighting the teamwork and technology behind these efforts.
