The Delhi government, led by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, has extended the Delhi Right of Citizens to Time-Bound Delivery of Services Act, 2011, to cover 23 additional services. This move aims to enhance governance and improve public service delivery across various sectors, benefiting both citizens and businesses. The objective is to ensure timely provision of essential services such as approvals, licenses, registrations, and No Objection Certificates from different departments.
The implementation of this initiative is expected to streamline processes, reduce delays, and minimize the need for multiple visits to government offices. By enforcing time-bound service delivery, the government aims to uphold the rights of citizens and enhance administrative accountability. Chief Minister Gupta highlighted the nationwide efforts, spearheaded by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to enhance the Ease of Doing Business, which the Delhi government is actively supporting.
Under the expanded framework, various services will now have specific timelines for delivery. For instance, factory plan approvals by the Labour Department will be processed within 15 days, while registration under the Shops and Establishments Act will be completed in a single day. The Delhi Jal Board will provide sewerage connections within 15 days, and the Delhi Tourism and Transportation Development Corporation will issue film shooting permissions within the same timeframe.
Moreover, applications related to electricity meters and connection agreements under the Energy Department will be handled within 60 days. The Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) will expedite authorizations for battery waste management within 15 days. Municipal services, including water and adventure sports operator registrations, amusement park approvals, and NOCs for food businesses, will now be processed within 60 days.
Chief Minister Gupta emphasized the commitment to efficient service delivery, with provisions for swift approvals in various sectors like hotel registrations, slaughterhouse licenses, and mobile tower installations. The Public Works Department will also ensure timely permissions for road cutting and associated works, granted within 45 days.
