The Delhi government, led by Rekha Gupta, has finalized the roll-out plan for the Mahila Samriddhi Yojana, now renamed as the Delhi Lakshmi Yojana. Eligible women between 21 to 60 years old will receive Rs 2,500 per month under this scheme. The flagship program is set to be launched next month during the Raksha Bandhan festival.
The decision to implement the scheme was made during a high-level review meeting at the Delhi Secretariat. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta emphasized the importance of empowering women and ensuring a transparent and efficient delivery of benefits. The scheme aims to support women in leading dignified and self-reliant lives, aligning with the vision of ‘Viksit Bharat’ by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
CM Rekha Gupta highlighted that the scheme’s benefits will be available to women who have been Delhi residents for at least 10 years, with no criminal record. Only the eldest woman in a family will be eligible, and the annual family income should not exceed ₹2.5 lakh. Women already benefiting from government schemes or owning a four-wheeled vehicle will not qualify for this assistance.
The Chief Minister stressed the importance of women’s economic empowerment in driving progress at the family, societal, and national levels. The government aims to ensure that the ‘Delhi Lakshmi Yojana’ reaches deserving beneficiaries while upholding strict adherence to the eligibility criteria.
